Journal of American Medical Association May 15, 2013 – Vol 309, No. 19; Lutein + Zeaxanthin and Omega-3 Fatty Acids for Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Author(s): National Eye Institute/National Institute of Health, Lead Investigator: Dr. Emily Chew
The two Age-related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) studies were done separately each over a 5-year trial period. These are important as this was the first time that a very large amount of clinical resources went into these data and prospective nutritional data was applied to a disease. The study determined that there was a group of nutrients that could be used for people who had advanced Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and this group of nutrients would further diminish the progression of the disease.

Taking the vitamins for AMD as prescribed. One notable side affect. I had suffered from continuos persistent evening muscle cramps. I had tried a number of solutions for years. Since taking the AMD vitamins the muscle cramps have cleared up completely. Very pleasing side affect.

Is Vitilux recommended or Lutein + Zeaxanthin? I read a recent article which stated a percentage of Vitilux users actually experienced an increase or worsening of AMD.
