Summary: The women’s health initiative is still on-going looking at women that were placed on hormonal replacement therapy. There were many subgroups of patients including a group of 8000 women suffering from dry eye. These groups were studied on the food that they were eating and it was noted that the women that ate the highest amount of Omega-3s which was the equivalent of a Tuna Fish sandwich a day, had a 2/3 reduction of in risk of dry eye. The conclusion was drawn that the natural form of Omega-3s in the tuna had a significant benefit to reduce dry eye symptoms and occurrence.
